A retreat on discovering your calling and
finding pathways to your future

Milwaukee, WI
Friday, April 21, 5:30pm – 9:00pm
Saturday, April 22, 8:30am – 6:00pm

What should I do with my life?
What is my calling, really?
What do I do with my talents?
What if I don’t like them?
What is my purpose?

Few “bigger” questions get asked more often than, “What should I do with my life?”  More often than not, the question gets asked during a season of change that holds plenty of ambiguity and uncertainty.  By its very nature, the question implies that we exist for a reason and are uniquely created for a purpose.  Our task is to discover this reason and purpose, live from it, and influence the world by it.  This retreat is about curiosity and courage.  The curiosity to ask deeper questions and to be open to answers.  The courage to dream about our calling beyond the bounds of current assumptions.  The courage to step toward a calling of co-authorship with God out of which many great stories will be told – stories much bigger than our current ones.  It’s about the lifelong application of your sense of call (God’s contribution) and gifts (your stewardship and cultivation) blended together into your choices of service, career and community.  It’s about finding purpose and the courage to be here during such a time as this.

Who is this for?

This retreat is designed for anyone who desires to live life more fully and intentionally.  Often these desires arise in the midst of big change when people are facing a major life transition, asking big questions, feeling stuck or “in a rut”, needing to find their “next”, or facing a difficult decision and feeling ill-equipped to discern the path ahead.  We can all likely relate to experiencing these questions and feelings at one or several points in our life.  However, you don’t have be experiencing a major life change to benefit from this event.  This retreat will help support participants by offering guidance, insight and direction on how to discover a calling and purpose.

What can participants expect?

This retreat will be a dynamic conversation on calling, gifts and purpose.  We will look at the myths and flawed assumptions that may be arresting your growth and desired future. The retreat will include teaching, Q & A, group and individual exercises, assessments, reflection and application.

Desired Outcomes for Participants

  • Discovery through self-honesty.  To discover, in an honest conversation, the true nature of transition and its influence on your calling.
  • Raised curiosity.  To become more open to asking curious questions – of your stories, dreams, purpose, calling, and their fit within God’s story.
  • Listening and Co-authoring.  To learn about cultivating deeper listening, demystifying the process of discernment, and co-authoring with God as you move into your future.
  • Clarity on “next”.  To gain a clear sense for the possible next steps to take after the retreat.
  • Challenged.  To challenge the guiding beliefs and flawed assumptions and their influence on your present.
  • Shared experience.  To connect with others who have similar questions, constraints, fears, desires and hope.
  • Gained confidence. To leave feeling believed in; that the trajectory of your story can change.
  • Inspiration.  To feel energized, and a deeper connection to a much bigger story than your own – that your life is in the service of others, and something greater than you’ve imagined.
